Students will practice all six swim strokes and practice flips. Students will increase distances they can swim. This class is for adults who need to learn to swim or gain more confidence in the water. Participants add arms to the scissors kick for sidestroke and begin learning back crawl, breaststroke, and butterfly. This level increases endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front and back crawl) for greater distances. Level 4: Stroke Development, ages 6 and up Prerequisites include the ability to float (front and back) unsupported, perform front and back glides unsupported, and demonstrate alternating arm action. This level teaches rotary breathing, dolphin kick, and safety, as well as freestyle and elementary backstroke. Level 3: Stroke Development, ages 6 and up Prerequisites include the ability to walk five yards in chest-deep water, retrieve an object underwater, and float supported or unsupported. This level builds from Level 1, and teaches alternating arm action, rhythmic bobbing, front and back glides, and safety. Level 2: Fundamental Skills, ages 5 and up This level builds from beginner skills through the introduction of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke while providing a greater sense of confidence and independence in the water. Preschoolers learn floating, kicking, alternating arm action, bubble blowing, and safety rules. This level is a fun introduction to water with an emphasis on comfort, safety, and basic water skills. Parents learn how to teach their children various skills to increase their child's confidence, coordination, and safety in the water. Parent and child aquatics builds swimming readiness through games and songs. If you have questions about which class best fits you or your child's needs, call (940) 349-8800.
